Today, I added yet another plugin to the site. This one is nice and unobtrusive – I’m getting more and more wary of adding to the site because the sidebar is in danger of becoming very cluttered and most of the additions don’t serve any purpose.
As you all know, I am using Spam Karma 2 to combat the porn, drug, pharmaceutical and whatever else rise. I really really don’t want this site to get gunked up with that sort of crap. Not fair on me, not fair on you the visitor and especially not fair on Drew because it’s his server and his bandwidth. However, up until now, only I could know how effective the tool really is.
So today I installed Matt Read’s Spam Karma 2 Stats 1.2 on the site. By installing it and making a really small change to footer.php (which is detailed on the site), I now have a little addition the page footer. At the time of writing this, it looks like this:

That’s a heck of a lot of spam. What i especially enjoy is that a number of the scumbags use jokes with the occasional URL in there. What a cunning stunt. So, SK2 emails me the spam it has blocked and I get to read the joke without having the site jammed up. So we all win, apart from the spammer.
